Two posts in one... the first half in English, and the second in Swedish... and this time they are a little bit different from each other!
Tomorrow I get up at silly-o'clock in order to catch an early flight to Athens.
Despite the fact that my daughters are climate activists and have made the decision not to fly... my commitment is that all flights that are 2 hours and under will be done by land instead of air.
This might not seem like a huge concession at first, but when you realise that my entire British family are a two hour flight away you can see that this will impact us a great deal... it will mean taking the train to see my mum, sister and niece etc in the future - and Stockholm to York is no small journey!
I will try and do as much via online meetings as possible too...
But in education is is also about the meetings, face to face interactions, playing and engaging with each other that is also important. So I will continue to make journeys when it feels the right thing to do.
Travelling to Athens tomorrow, certainly does feel the right thing to do... not only am I participating in the Play on Early Education conference, I will also spend time at the preschool Dorothy Snot, the driving force behind the conference, and also fellow International Fairy Tea Party celebrators...
I am really looking forward to visiting the preschool and learning, ut also being able to offer a few extra workshops for the educators and parents...
I love the fact the the workshops are being held for the parents too, and not just the educators... isn't that a great way for communities to raise children... to learn together, as partners, educators and parents...
I am going to try something new while I am in Athens and that is to do some short live films over on my facebook page of my learning journey - things that I see, things that I learn, things that I wonder about... it might be a little random at first, but hopefully it will all pull together to make sense... part Athens guide, part pedagogical learning journey... you are invited to join!
There are still a few tickets available for the conference... so hurry if you would like to make a last minute trip to Athens to enjoy some warmth and also some amazing speakers...
I will be opening the conference with my keynote talk about Original Learning (I am so looking forward to sharing more about this theory, and then to start writing more about it) - and then I will be able to sit and listen to the other keynotes, presenters and play workshops (although I am holding two play workshops... the same one but twice, so more have access to the play)

Det är verkligen roligt att jag ska få möjligheten att åka till Aten imorgon och få uppleva förskolan värld där... både med besök till förskolor, att träffa andra pedagoger, barn och föräldrar samt att delta i en konferens - med "världsklass keynote talare" - det känns konstigt att bli kallad världsklass, men jag är oerhört ärad, och ser fram emot att träffa en av mina "tanke mentors" inom lek, pedagogik och psykologi - Peter Gray. Hans böcker och skrifter har verkligen utmanat mina idéer och fått mig att tänka och tänka om, så jag verkligen ser fram emot att kunna delta i en riktig dialog med honom IRL!!!
Jag kommer också träffa Takaharu Tezakura som har designat en förskola i Japan... se filmen under
Teacher Tom kommer också vara där... han arbeta på en föräldrar-kooperativ i Seattle, USA och skriver en väl läst blogg.
Den sista keynote är Meynell Walter - en playworker från UK som anordna Lek konferenser samt studier besök bland annat. Det är Meynell som kommer att hålla den sista keynote.
Det kommer att vara så roligt att träffa många andra från hela världen (eller nästan) vissa har jag träffat förut, men många har jag endast träffat visa sociala media... samt många nya namn och ansikte. Så mycket erfarenhet och kunskap på ett och samma ställe. Jag ser verkligen fram emot att lyssna och lära mig nya saker samt nya perspektiv.
